This large hexagonal canvas is very versatile for hanging. You choose which angle you like.

Gerda Lipski is a German painter who experiments with wonderful texture. I am inspired by her techniques to play and so the nest became the beginning of the story .

It progressed from there with the appearance of three dark blue eggs, speckled with brown, white and real gold leaf, all of which sit slightly raised off the canvas.

The colours are reminiscent of medieval images and the entire hue has an antique feel to it because of the raw umber , green blemishes and the blue of the eggs.

Note- given the small house I live in, I struggled to find a wall big enough to photograph such a large canvas it on, so its been staged in mock rooms. It would be truly dramatic on a large wall, in an office or somewhere earthy.

I love painting tones, enjoy the microscopic view of flowers, images we take for granted. This was an absolute joy to paint and fulfilled my need for pink, for a while. Georgia O'Keefe, a fabulous American artist ,was the inspiration for my entry into this painting style.

I call this method "intuitive" with a bit of negative painting thrown in to reveal the subject.

I start with a canvas full of paint , blobs and texture that I create freehand. The challenge is to see what's in the patterns.
I admit to dreaming of vases of Spring flowers in France with this one and so the name " Jolies fleurs- Pretty Flowers".
Its perfect anywhere you want a flourish of Spring flowers really, a baby's room, bathroom, any corner crying out for a breath of Spring.
It comes to you already framed in a timber box frame, which can be stood on its own or hung on a wall.

If you have lucky to visit Giverny , France and see Monet's garden you will know that the driveway there is literally awash with nasturtiums. Its huge and very dramatic. This canvas is a small snippet. It is mounted into a sealed pine box frame which can be removed easily if you prefer.

Inverloch in Victoria is a very special place in my heart. Its the place of dinosaur bones, wild ocean and many, many rocks. I built this small pile when I was last there, learning to snorkel.

The image is currently carried over onto the sides , but this painting would look just as beautiful in a natural wood box frame.

This piece was created using Isopropyl alcohol and acrylic paint. As each layer of paint was put down, isopropyl alcohol was sprinkled which pushed the paint away to reveal colours underneath. This painting has 6 glazed layers to it and a final layer where it is finessed using floated colour, to create shapes and definition.
Its essentially a very fresh piece and would look beautiful in a baby's room, an ocean themed room, or bathroom. Anywhere you would like a touch of a sea breeze.

I love Impressionist Art and the exploration of light. I also adore colour and just couldn't go past this giant tree. I stood under its canopy and sighed. Ballarat has beautiful gardens and many huge trees. The tree was big so the painting had to be too. It's fresh colourful and would make a beautiful statement on a wall, a bit like jewellery against a plain dress.

I love the roundness of fruit and vegetables and their colour. Pumpkins and figs are a favourite of mine because of that. This painting would just liven a plain room, or adorn a country kitchen. Its heavy with colour and texture and designed to make your wall literally "pop"!!
While in France for a while, the markets were full of beautiful pumpkins, and in the US, they are a gorgeous decoration for Thanksgiving on country folks porches. They are familiar and represent to me, Autumn, warmth and fertility.

I love all things Roman and the paintings of the Renaissance and this piece encompasses just that, to me. Painting round objects and creating a lusciousness with light and dark is so enjoyable. Every painting should have an interesting background. For me is makes me wonder what else is happening in the background...life goes on around the subject.
